Peppermint Everyday Dress by In the Folds and Peppermint Magazine
In this post I will talk about how I sewed this beautiful dress and what you will learn if you choose to make it. #thehemlineeclectic #peppermintmagazine #inthefolds #pepperminteverydaydress

The Everyday Dress
This pattern is a lovely wardrobe staple. You can dress it up with other accessories or keep it casual! The optional tie adds a new silhouette to the whole outfit. And it is another free pattern by Peppermint Magazine designed by In the Folds! Download yours here!
It is also reversible! You can choose to wear it as a V-neck in front or a round-neck in front! Yay!
This dress has a looooot of ease!!! The important part to consider before choosing a size is - how you want it to fit on top?. So go with you bust measurement and then think about how much ease you are comfortable with.
According to the size chart, if I chose to sew my size, my finished garment would have been 48" at the bust (Size 3). I will be floating in this dress and I do not like this type of a fit. I looked at the finished garment and chose to cut a size 1 (40" bust in the finished garment). I am much more comfortable with this ease on top to end up with a flattering dress and still very comfortable.
I chose to cut a size 1.
The Fabric choice
This dress will have so many different silhouettes with different fabrics. It would be best in a more lightweight fabrics but I have seen one made out of corduroy and it looked awesome! So go wild!
For my first dress, I wanted to bring out the structure of this pattern but still have it be a light and breezy. The perfect fabric for that is a cotton lawn! Here is mine in a black cotton lawn! It is slightly sheer but it s not very noticeable. I loved working with this fabric. I bought mine online from Fabric.com.
I think I would love love to make this in something more drapey, like a Rayon challis or a poplin or even a lyocell. It would look so different.
